Chiropractic is a natural form of health care based on the theory that the health of your nervous system is the primary determining factor to your well-being. Our nervous system is our body’s master system, controlling and coordinating the function of almost every cell, tissue and organ in your body. The primary focus of chiropractic is to ensure your nerves are working at their best in order to allow optimal communication between your brain and your body. This is done by making minor corrections to your spine and surrounding areas, called ‘adjustments.’ These are very gentle, and there are many ways chiropractors can do these. Chiropractors are very highly qualified in our industry and are required to constantly update their skills.
Our bodies are designed to heal themselves, a chiropractic adjustment may help the central nervous system to do this.
What to expect:
Here we will guide you through our 4 step process of becoming a new Chiropractic patient at Performance Healthcare, Diamond Creek.
At Performance Healthcare we strive to make your first visit at our practice a comfortable experience. One of our reception staff will welcome you and ask you to complete our required forms as a new patient. These forms will give us important information about you and your condition (if you have one!). Our Chiropractor will then walk you back to one of our rooms where they will spend some time asking specific questions about your condition to determine if Chiropractic care is right for you. If Chiropractic care is not the answer, we can help refer you to another practitioner in our practice.
After listening to the history of your condition and how it is altering your lifestyle, the Chiropractor will give you a thorough chiropractic examination, such as testing your ability to turn and bend, your reflexes, and other standard postural, neurological, orthopedic, and physical examinations. This important information will allow us to have a better understanding of your condition and how Chiropractic care can help you. If it’s warranted, we may need to order more advanced testing such as X-rays, which are often bulk billed.
After all examinations, forms and any advanced testing are complete, we will discuss all the findings and what course of treatment will work for your condition. Most pain issues do not start over night, so may take time to fix. Unfortunately, getting rid of pain isn’t easy as ‘putting a bone back in place’. It took time for the body to start to feel the pain, and it will take some time for us to help the body heal enough to stop experiencing that pain. You will receive our best recommendation about a course of care for your specific condition.
If we both agree that you are a good candidate for care in our practice, then we will start treating you that same day. We understand that your time is valuable, so we would never make you come back the following day to start treatment. We get started right away. A typical visit will last 10-15mins, during which time we will find what changes need to be made in that particular day and make appropriate adjustments.
