Myotherapy is an holistic ‘hands on’ manual therapy based on the principle that the body functions as an integrated unit. Myotherapy is a form of soft tissue physical therapy which focuses on the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain and associated pathologies.
A myotherapist will use observation, examination and palpation of body structures (joints, muscles, tendons, and connective tissue) to make a diagnosis. Myotherapy incorporates not only the trigger point therapy, but also a wide range of soft tissue massage and manipulation including among others: muscle energy technique, dry needling, joint mobilisation, stretching, nutritional advice, exercise prescription, postural advice and education, and use of thermal (heat/cold) and electro-mechanical therapies (eg TENS) as necessary.
Treatment is safe for people of all ages and pregnant women. To save time at your initial visit, you can download and complete the new patient information form prior to your visit.
